Let’s meet at the 11th International St. Jacob Festival where ensemble “Lietuva” will present a premiere!

How does the past inspire contemporary human? The new program “Ludi Fortunae”  is an innovative look at sacred music and today’s discoveries. The concert will feature works by three female composers – Zita Bružaitė, Jurgita Mieželytė and Raminta Šerkšnytė, inspired by the Middle Ages and the majestic Baroque. The colors of sacred music and the beauty of interpretation will be revealed by the choir of the ensemble “Lietuva” and the orchestra of national instruments, conducted by conductor dr. Egidijus Kaveckas.

The program prepares a special surprise for the audience – for the first time, Z. Bružaitė’s new work “Ludi Fortunae” (translation – games of destiny), will be played in public.

A contemporary Lithuanian women’s composers’ program “Ludi Fortunae” was created and developed in cooperation with the Lithuanian Composers’ Union.

International St. James Sacred Music Festival is being organised for the eleventh year in a row. This year the festival is dedicated to the year of St. James and the founder of the Dominican Order St. Dominic. Under the Patronage of the President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda and the Archbishop Metropolitan of Vilnius Gintaras Grušas.
