The concert practice called for the development of timbrally rich, technically flexible, acoustically strong, and modally broad instruments. It was suggested to include <em>kankl\u0117s<\/em> (zither) and its modernized version <em>klavikl\u0117s<\/em>, <em>skudu\u010diai<\/em> (panpipes), <em>mediniai trimitai<\/em> (wooden trumpets), <em>daudyt\u0117s<\/em> (pipes),<em> lamzdeliai<\/em> (recorders),<em> birbyn\u0117s<\/em> (folk clarinets), <em>to\u0161el\u0117s<\/em> (reeds), <em>p\u016bslin\u0117<\/em> (a bow made from a pig\u2019s bladder filled with dried peas), <em>skrabalai <\/em>(cow bells), <em>tabalai <\/em>(gongs), and other rattles, as well as certain shepherd instruments.<\/p>\n<p><em>*The words in italics are the correct names of instruments in the Lithuanian language.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Lamzdeliai (lumzdeliai)<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1913 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/ansamblis-lietuva.lt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/instrumentai_lamzdeliai.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"110\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A traditional <em>lamzdelis<\/em> is a shepherd\u2019s instrument made of peel or wood. It has 3-9 sound holes, usually combined with major sounds. The repertoire consists of shepherds\u2019 rallies \u2013 recitations of the scope of the tertiary, researches \u2013 virtuosic improvisations, songs, contractuals, and dances. <em>Lamzdelis<\/em> was first mentioned by J. Bretk\u016bnas in 1580.<\/p>\n<p>The orchestra of the ensemble uses improved chromatic<em> lamzdeliai<\/em> made of ebonite, range C2 \u2013 G4 (recorded in an octave below). The instrument is technically very flexible, also the closest to playful music. Solo works with the support of other folk instruments were also created for <em>lamzdelis<\/em>. The mouthpiece has an attached reed. The tenor reed-pipe is longer than the high one, slightly thicker, and its sound is dark and warm. The timbre of the double-bass reed-pipe reminds of the sound of a contrabassoon. The high reed-pipe is the main melodic instrument of the orchestra, and their group forms the basis of the orchestra. Programs of the ensemble include a group of reed-pipes \u2013 a quintet. There are three types of traditional <em>kankl\u0117s <\/em>in Lithuania that originate from the northeast part of Auk\u0161taitija, the western part of Auk\u0161taitija and \u017demaitija, and the western part of \u017demaitija and Suvalkija. In the second part of the 20th century, many musical schools were established with departments of national instruments. The joint orchestra of <em>kankl\u0117s <\/em>may be heard in national song festivals. <em>Kankl\u0117s <\/em>were first mentioned by J. Bretk\u016bnas in 1580. Some wooden bells do not have clappers. The pitch of the sound very much depends on the size of the trough. The ensemble uses type two <em>skrabalai <\/em>made of 27 troughs, arranged in seven lines. Their diapason is G-E2.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Skudu\u010diai (panpipes)<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1925 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/ansamblis-lietuva.lt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/instrumentai_skuduciai.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"233\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Skudu\u010diai (panpipes) <\/em>is a musical instrument popular in northeastern Auk\u0161taitija. It is a set of 5-8 pipes, used for playing instrumental glees. It consists of four parts: leather windbag (air reservoir), chanter, drone, and blowing pipe. The instrument\u2019s name comes from the town of Labanoras. The drum consists of a circular frame with stretched skin, sometimes with scorching discs attached to the drum frame. Recently, the rhythmic group of the orchestra has been supplemented with drums of various sizes and other rhythmic instruments.<\/p>\n<p><em>*The words in italics are the correct names of instruments in the Lithuanian language.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>OTHER INSTRUMENTS<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Daudyt\u0117s (pipes)<\/strong> were used in northeastern Lithuania for performing instrumental sutartin\u0117s. These are straight wooden pipes (140 \u2013 230 cm in length) providing 4 \u2013 5 natural tones. The ensemble uses <em>daudyt\u0117s <\/em>in C, D, F, and G.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ragas (horn)<\/strong> is also used in performing sutartin\u0117s, however, it only produces 1 \u2013 2 tones. The ensemble is in possession of seven horns.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tabalai (percussion)<\/strong>\u00a0a set of boards (50 \u2013 90 cm), is used as a signal instrument. The ensemble uses five <em>tabalai <\/em>covering the interval of a fifth (G-D1).<\/p>\n<p><strong>B\u016bgnelis\u00a0(snare-drum)<\/strong> consists of skin stretched over a rounded frame. Sometimes jingle are attached to the frame.
