BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY AND OTHER STORIES
CONCERT: FROM CLASSICAL TO CINEMA MUSIC
May 22, 2026, 7:00 p.m.
ORGANUM Concert Hall, Vilnius
Is it possible to experience Baroque music, Lithuanian improvisation, film music, and even some legends of rock all in one concert?
It is possible — you just need to open your heart and let your imagination run wild. The musicians of the state ensemble “Lietuva” invite you to do just that in their new musical program “Bohemian rhapsody and other stories.” If hearing the words “kanklės” or “birbynės” still conjures up a certain image in your mind, it’s likely that after this concert, Lithuanian instruments will become your most unexpected discovery.
Just one evening, yet the journey through musical sounds is endless: from elegant Baroque dances to contemporary Lithuanian soundscapes, from tender duets to energetic ensembles of varying sizes. And when familiar melodies from the world of cinema or legendary rock music ring out on stage, you’ll be amazed at the magical power of masterfully played traditional instruments.
The kanklės here aren’t just gentle—they can also be wildly rhythmic.
And the birbynės—are they really just the voice of traditional festivals? You’ll hear the answer for yourself.
It is also important to note that this event features stories, rich with sound and personal experiences, that will be shared on stage by the musicians of the “Lietuva” national instrument orchestra. This is an opportunity to get to know them better, in a more intimate setting, because there is so much more behind each of their talent and mastery. The new program, “Bohemian Rhapsody and Other Stories,” was born precisely from the ensemble members’ intuition, improvisations, and pieces they have personally selected or even arranged.
Come and hear how timeless works are reborn – in Lithuanian, full of spirit, and bursting with freedom.
